Courtney Burch underwent surgery last Friday due to gallstones & a further operation will take place Monday at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Tiffany, a single mother of 3 that we recently met, would appreciate your prayers for herself & her family.

Penny Thompson continues experiencing back pain caused by several discs out of alignment & she would greatly appreciate your prayers.

Our Ukrainian brethren, along with the entire population, continue undergoing dramatic stress, physical danger, & uncertainty as the Russian invasion persists.

Shane Lavender would appreciate your prayers for improved health on behalf of his father, Clarence Lavender.

Our Students are in the final stretch of the Spring semester & are gearing up for a variety of Summer experiences & jobs.

Nadelle (student from Common Ground) regularly requests our prayers for her family, & for the sister that she lost last year (Nevaeh)

Please submit written prayer requests to the office (email or text) by noon each Saturday.

Requests can also be included on attendance cards & placed in the collection tray.

  • "Tom's Ties"

Friends, I have placed several of Tom's pants & shirts in the church foyer. The button down shirts, both short & long sleeve, are hanging & the pants are folded on a table below. There are polo-type shirts folded on the table; also many ties hanging & in a box on the floor. If you or someone you know could wear any of these, please take them. The ties could be useful for krafts projects, perhaps. The pants are mostly size 34x29" with a few 32x30 and 1 36x29". Colors khaki, blue, gray and black.

    Shirts are medium or 15 1/2" x 32/33".

    Lovingly, Kaye Gilliam

  • Happy Birthday Jon!

Jon, & the rest of the Allen's Comm. Grp., wait eagerly to eat the German-chocolate birthday cake that Amy cooked to celebrate Jon's birthday. We said "thanks" to both!

We are extremely proud of all of our graduates, & yet we have one remaining plea to make of you — Please Don't Graduate!

At the root of the word “graduate” is the concept of “completing” or “finishing” something. When you finish school, you walk away from it (often with great celebration). Graduates, as you finish & walk away from some things, please, oh please, don’t finish or walk away from those things that are of eternal worth!

Don’tgraduatefromGod’struth!Oh,somepeoplewillfind “their own truths,” but there is only one objective truth given to us by God that will set us free & chart our course to heaven (John 8:32)! Don’t graduate from it!

Don’t graduate from your faith! You are going to be challenged. People in authority will mock you because you believe in God, Jesus, & the Bible. Don’t worry about them! The evidence that backs your faith is indestructible (Rom. 1:20; Acts 1:3; Heb. 3:4; 11:3).

Don’t graduate from the Church! Some people, maybe even fellow “Christians,” are going to try to convince you that the Church is “optional” & that you are ok (maybe even better off) without it. Don’t believe them for a second! They’re wrong! You need the Church & the Church needs you (Mt. 6:33).

Don’t graduate from Godly living! “Just live any way that you want! You only live once! You do you!” That’s what some folks will try to convince you to believe. The truth is that the very best life on this earth is the faithful Christian life! You will be more blessed (Eph. 1:3; John 13:17) & more fulfilled (John 10:10) by living the Godly life than any other life (Tit. 2:11-14)!

Don’t graduate from Jesus! You might think that you can’t see Him, so He must not be real. He is more than real! He is your Friend (John 15:14), your Savior (1 John 4:14), your Advocate with God (Heb. 2:17-18), your life (Col. 3:4) & your onlyhope(1Tim.1:1).YouneedHimmorethanyouneed anything else!

Don’t graduate from heaven! You can miss out on a lot of things in this life & still survive, but don’t miss heaven! Set your sights & your mind on heaven (Col. 3:1-2), long for Jesus’ return every day (Phil. 3:20) & live in such a way that heaven will be your eternal home (2 Pet. 1:11; 2 Cor. 5:10).

Leave school, SURE, but don’t ever leave behind that which truly matters!

"Tell Your Story" -- A new auditorium class begins this summer & we are searching for brothers & sisters who are willing to tell their story; the story of how they became a Christian, how they struggled with faith, how they overcame adversity or addiction, or how they've dedicated themselves to serving God with their particular skillset or interests. In an effort to make this less intimidating, many of the class sessions will take a facilitated interview format . If you are willing & brave enough to bless your brethren by sharing your story , please let Curt or Dean know in the coming days.

Thanks so much for your recent generous donation for the Women’s Resource Center! The donation of Mac and cheese was appreciated so much by the staff and by those who are residing in the shelter. The next donation drive will be in June, and will be individual fruit cups. Again, thanks again for your love and support, and for being the hands and feet of Jesus!

In Him, Sheryl Young
